Meighs & Westleys is a high integrity sand casting and service provider, specialising in Copper and Nickel based alloys for demanding industry applications. We are looking to further strengthen and invest in our growing team, to enable us to further cement our position in the marketplace.

Westley Group turns over £35 million per annum, operating from four manufacturing sites, which include the businesses of Meighs & Westleys (Newcastle under Lyme), Spunalloys (Cradley Heath), Francis W Birkett & Sons and Walter Frank & Sons (Cleckheaton). Meighs & Westleys are managed from two local sites (Newcastle under Lyme and Stoke on Trent), representing approximately £15 million of this turnover.

Due to restructuring within the organisation, we are currently seeking to recruit an experienced Quality Control / Quality Assurance Manager. This post would be based primarily at Newcastle under Lyme, but travel to our Stoke on Trent facility, or other sites within the Group, may be required from time to time. This role is permanent and full-time, reporting into the General Manager.

The successful candidate for this role will initially work closely with the General Manager and current Quality Manager (retiring) during a structured hand over period, to ensure a smooth transition of duties, becoming responsible for site quality control and quality assurance functions, including some technical responsibility on a day to day basis; managing a team of five within the department; ensuring an exceptional level of communication, organisation and feedback for customer NCR’s / returns, along with coordination of the required corrective actions; manage corrective actions, ensuring compliance in a timely manner; facilitate monthly quality meetings, generating quality reports for the senior management team; manage and provide ongoing maintenance of company third-party audits and approvals, ensuring accuracy and maintenance of product certification to exceptionally high levels; develop and maintain KPI measures to assist driving improvement processes and be actively involved in the Company’s continuous improvement initiatives.

Candidates for this role must have a minimum of five years relevant Quality Control / Quality Assurance experience, ideally within an automotive or foundry / metals background; be HNC / Degree qualified in Metallurgy, Engineering, or a Quality related subject; possess knowledge and application of improvement tools and techniques.

This role requires a dynamic and enthusiastic outlook, with a desire to continuously improve. Candidates should be able to work on their own initiative, but also as part of a team; be customer focused, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and possess a full UK/EU driving licence.
