In September 2016 Westley Group joined over 2000 exhibitors at SMM Hamburg to promote the Group’s position as a leading supplier of high integrity, safety critical cast components to many of the world’s leading prime contractors in the maritime market.
The Group was able to display a 4.0mtr (160”) long gunmetal shaft liner manufactured with its new centrifugal casting machine recently installed at the Group’s Spunalloys Ltd facility near Birmingham, UK; this new casting cell can produce shaft liners (sleeves) up to 5m (199”) long. These products were displayed along with some prime examples of high integrity sand cast products manufactured at our world class sand foundry near Stoke-on-Trent, UK.
Based on the Group’s fully vertically integrated manufacturing facilities, covering the supply of sand and centrifugally cast products, fully machined, assembled and tested, the Group offers a unique capability to support both the commercial marine and naval marine markets. The Group’s pedigree within the naval defence market was exemplified by recent successes in the supply, on time and in full, of a number of critical material packages in support of both submarine and surface ship new build and refit programmes.
Westley Group had over 200 visitors on its stand made up of some existing and many prospective customers; the interest in the Group focussed heavily on our manufacturing and technical capability and associated efficiency to provide tailored engineered solutions that ensured high integrity products and value for money. Based on these core competencies the Group also received considerable interest from potential global distributors to ensure our products are available more widely.
The show proved to be a resounding success for the Group and we look forward to exhibiting again in 2018.
