Westley Group History
Westley Group’s roots date back to the 1700’s, when William Westley founded the original Queen’s Cross Foundry in Dudley. Due to a series of strategic acquisitions coupled with organic growth, the Group has grown beyond all recognition into a successful multi-million pound turnover business. Some of Westley Group’s key moments in history are recorded below:
1800 – William Westley opened the “The Queens Cross Foundry” in Dudley, specialising exclusively in copper based alloys.
1982 – Westley Group purchased the family owned Williams Alexandra Foundry, which was first built on the Alexandra dock in Cardiff and had been named after Princess Alexandra. Subsequently the focus of the business changed to specialist procurement. The modern day Westley of Cardiff is now strategically positioned on Corus’ Port Talbot site.
1990s – High Tech, A. Fryer & Sons and West & Musgrave became the next acquisitions, adding additional skills and a wider customer base across more industry sectors.
