Machining and Assembly

Submarine Propulsion Components, including blades, vanes, hubs and stator rings, fully machined, tested, coated, moment weighed, balanced and arrayed.

Meighs & Westleys can machine anything it casts. Through access to Westley Group’s two finish machine shops, we are expanding our machining portfolio as we strategically work with our customer base to machine everything we cast. The benefit to the overall supply chain is the security of a defect free supply. Smaller product up to a 600mm envelope is machined at the Francis Birkett’s machine shop, whereas larger product is machined in our machine shop located on the Spunalloys site. Both facilities have seen considerable strategic investment in recent years, enabling us to finish machine everything we cast. This vertically integrated manufacturing platform provides our customers with a complete solution in relation to product, as well as consistency and security of supply. Both facilities are flexible and offer pressure testing, NDT testing, and witness testing to complete the quality assurance specification.
